This project report describes a course called 'Owning Our Faith,' which was one attempt to provide such an opportunity.  A group of 12 'pilgrims' looked at faith development theories and what it means to become a mature person of faith, shared spiritual autobiographies, engaged in self-discovery through the Myers Briggs Type indicator, explored new mission opportunities, developed our own patterns of prayer, and clarified assumptions about how to study the Bible. The author seeks to give clarity to a theological basis for Christian motivations in giving.  The general thesis of this project is derived from biblical material.  The author argues that the mandates for Christian discipleship are necessarily inclusive of the biblical principles of giving. Twenty-three lectures were presented in Bible study sessions in a congregational context. In 1986 the school needed to be reorganized because it lacked clear goals and a well-defined action plan for accomplishing those goals.  Also, materials used were insufficient for training members.  The implementation of this project demands a sound theological foundation which included an adequate view of scripture, ministry, and the role of the local church as seen in the Assemblies of God.  The biblical and historical role of the laity is discussed in order to provide an adequate basis for implementing a school of lay ministry.
