A long-term preaching plan, if properly understood and implemented, could benefit a pastor greatly.  This long-term preaching plan has been developed and introduced for use at the Church of the Open Bible in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania.  Twenty-seven sermons were crafted using a long-term sermon process that was learned and developed under the tutelage of John Reed at Dallas Theological Seminary.  A descriptive survey assists in the evaluation process.  The same survey was handed out in a pre-test and post-test format to measure the spiritual growth of the congregation in the following areas: comprehension -- knowledge; convictions -- biblical beliefs, attitudes, and values; and conduct -- behavior. The long-term planning process helps the pastor in sermon preparation and assists in the spiritual formation of the local church.
