Using the story of Jacob wrestling with God in Genesis 32:22-31 as a backdrop against which we might view suicide in more compassionate ways, the author brings our attention to the graciousness of the Divine in matters of complexity, where there is grayness and a shadow side.  This is a phenomenological study that explores the concepts of 'blessing' and 'wound' - what it is like to live with 'both/and,' rather than overcoming, as Jacob needed to learn to live with both a blessing and a wound.
