Some 'moderate' Baptist churches have abandoned it as an absolute requirement for church membership.  Theoretical considerations (biblical, theological, ecumenical) underpin such abandonment. Yet practical considerations (psychological, sociological, and ecclesial) contend even more compellingly for retention.  This project champions immersion as an almost absolute requirement for membership in Baptist churches.
