The issue was that local churches often fail to adequately respond to the needs of orphans. The Orphan Care Project was developed as an approach to bridge the gap between orphans and Christians. The hypothesis that the project would increase the participants' understanding of orphan care and encourage personal participation resulting in self-reported deeper spiritual experience was proven.
