Why?  In this project, particular attention is paid to the manner in which post-Enlightenment modernity has undercut the vitality of the mainline church especially with reference to the authority of scripture.  Modernity, with its emphasis on the rational, has forced scripture to be read through a naturalistic framework depriving the story of any supernatural elements.
