It considers the ontogenesis of emotions and presents an interdisciplinary survey of theories about why people laugh.  The author explicates Freud's developmental theory of humor.  The intrapsychic processes related to jokes, the comic and humor, because they are the same as those of dreams, provide another window into the unconscious realm of das Es, das Ich, and das Ueber Ich.  The author takes the humorous attitude as an ontological given.  She considers human beings to be anthropos gelasiens and/or homo risibilis -- created in the image and likeness of God (Theos Gelasios and/or Deus Risibilis).  The project explores Old Testament humor and Jesus' 'strategy of laughter' along with the primacy of humor in the Medieval church. It formulates an integrative model for the use of therapeutic humor in the liberation and development of the Individuating Self.  It indicates the types of humor that are most applicable to unfreedom in das Es, das Ich, and das Ueber Ich.  Perceiving the Bible as comedy and human nature as Folly assists the therapeutic process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133633899134976,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:22:23.901Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":1,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"G Jean Wright","hits":1,"label":"G Jean Wright"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Freud, Sigmund, 1856-1939","hits":1,"label":"Freud, Sigmund, 1856-1939"},{"value":"Pastoral counseling","hits":1,"label":"Pastoral counseling"},{"value":"Wit and humor--Religious aspects","hits":1,"label":"Wit and humor--Religious aspects"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":1,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Andover Newton Theological School","hits":1,"label":"Andover Newton Theological School"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":1,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1988","hits":1,"label":"1988"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Andover Newton Theological School","hits":1,"label":"Andover Newton Theological School"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":1,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Andover Newton Theological School","hits":1,"label":"Andover Newton Theological School"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":1,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":1,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
