Secular research has been skeptical of relationships between religion and personal and family life.  The doctrine of the Trinity provides a theological basis for this study. Assessment instruments (SFI and SWBS) indicate that a population of healthy to midrange families with preference for a centripetal style of functioning report high levels of spiritual, religious, and existential well-being. Significant, positive correlations exist between perceptions of family system and perceptions of spiritual well-being.
