Psychotherapy and spiritual growth are concerned with changes in consciousness--changes in basic beliefs about self, others, the world and ultimately about God.  Narcissistic personalities suffer from spiritual poverty as well as from psychological isolation in a cocoon of self-absorption and internalized deprivation.
