The lessons sought to combine current social science moral development theory with religious and theological insights so as to support and enhance moral/spiritual development.  Foundational to the project was a theory base and paradigm produced by the author outlining and defining morally/spiritually rooted cultures.  Robert Kegan and James Fowler influenced this material.  Research included the field test and the development of a Moral/Spiritual Awareness Inventory which was also used in a limited external sample.  The inventory does seem to measure moral/spiritual development.
