The author develops a theology of hopeful worship, based on the understanding that in worship we participate in a Messianic banquet already begun in the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Beginning with a review of current literature about eschatological dimensions of worship, the author describes major authors in the field, their issues, and their insights. The project constructs a theology of hopeful worship based on eschatological dimensions of regular weekly worship services, sacraments of baptism and the Eucharist, and a liturgical calendar. The author concludes that concentration on eschatological dimensions of worship makes those who worship aware not only of the 'end times' but also of the nearness of Christ.
