The author theorized that an in-depth study of the historical, exegetical and theological bases for Christian baptism would foster attitudinal changes among members of this congregation toward accepting as members candidates who had been immersed as believers in non-Baptist churches.  Surveys taken prior to and following the study series indicated attitudinal changes which enhanced the possibility of a major policy change.
