The author argues for an active marriage ministry, particularly in the Roman Catholic tradition dominated by a celibate clerical hierarchy. Research involved interviews with leaders in marriage ministry, personal involvement in creating a marriage ministry in a Roman Catholic parish in Chicago, and the development of a research model exploring couples' experience of shared prayer.
