Personal testimonies realistically depict our everyday life and are at the core of who we are as Christians. In sharing our testimony of what God has done for us in a corporate worship service, we create the space for authentic God-talk to take place among Christians. The basic hypothesis is that since the advent of the megachurch, the small Black churches have followed the trend and exchanged the mid-week testimony and Bible study service for the 'pastor's Bible study.' In losing the testimony service, members lost the vehicle to share their stories and experiences of the Holy Spirit and how they have overcome in difficult situations.
