The metaphor of Christian pilgrimage as a biblical and historical model complements this ascetic spirituality. The project combines theoretical study of biblical, historical, and theological concepts of pilgrimage with an actual pilgrimage.  Questionnaires and journal reflections of partipants relate the project to contemporary practice of spiritual direction.
