The case study will focus on St. Paul's Community Church (Chicora, PA), and the disconnect between the church's missional focus vis-à-vis its representative denomination.  Using a narrative methodology, there will be a comparison of the experience of St. Paul's Community Church with St. Paul's Congregational Church (Rural Valley, PA), both of which have a shared historic affiliation with the United Church of Christ and ethnic, geographic, and sociological similarities. Together with a look at the local church's ecclesiological context, a biblical view of the Spirit's creative work in individual lives, and a historical view of conflict in St. Paul's Community Church, there will be a description of the forces that created an outcome that could only be created by the people and pastor working in a way that fit the context.
