Project"],"creator_tesim":["Roehner, Roland F."],"subject_tesim":["United Church of Christ","Church membership","Assimilation of new church members"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this study has been to develop an instrument in the form of a paper questionnaire that will enable prospective members to identify quickly and effectively what they want to know about the church. The instrument was developed in consultation with a committee of recently admitted members, and pilot tested with a group of prospective members and with a group of recently admitted members. The envisioned instrument and its administration is not, of course, an end in itself but part of a large process of education which it is intended to serve. It is not, however, the purpose of the project to specify or delineate such an educational process: the forms and contents of such a process may be many and the possible uses of the instrument manifold. Nonetheless, certain suggestions as to both the use and the limitations of the instrument have been included in this study. This study was done within the content of the United Church of Christ. By staying within the context of the denomination, the number of variables was reduced. However, the contribution of this study is not limited to the United Church of Christ, and the instrument which it produced is adaptable.
