The context is the 19th century East-West encounter of religions.  The paper focuses on the interaction between the Brahmo Samaj of India and American Unitarianism.  Its methodology is historical-phenomenological.  It concludes that Mozoomdar's visits in 1883, 1893 and 1900 as a missionary of the New Dispensation evoked considerable response in America.  His role in the Parliament of Religions in 1893 was significant and his visits helped institutionalize relations between Indian Brahmos and American Unitarians.
