Aristotle's science of literature, called Poetics, is a strategy for reading and interpreting scripture and for preaching that creates an encounter with God during which the people experience themselves as claimed by God for life in God's Kingdom.  The strategy identifies ways the drama of scripture imitates life through plot, language, characters, and reason. Through the faculty of imagination, the preacher interprets scripture using these poetic elements and transports the same into the sermon.
