In this project, visual aids primarily referred to objects used in sermons for illustrative purposes. The researcher gave an extensive biblical and theological rationale for the use of visual aids in teaching spiritual truth. He also provided significant scientific evidence for the importance of the visual sense in learning and retention. The project incorporated an 8-week sermon series and a focus group to measure the effectiveness of visual aids with regard to retention.
