Results indicate that: lay people can be effectively engaged in theological reflection; lay training committees can be significant vehicles for developing new partnership perspectives in the church and seminary; and that interaction developed within the process can have transforming effects upon relationships within the church, and can assist in refocusing the sense of calling for clergy, seminarians and laity. Current research indicating areas of convergence between Vatican Council II, the church's social teachings, and the women's movement formed the basis of a semester course for Roman Catholic church professionals participating in a theological sabbatical year. Twenty-two key issues were identified by survey and used to design a program for ministry reflection groups meeting every three weeks. Three pilot groups (1982) and four test groups (1983) used the material.  Transition by the test ministers was compared with that of four contemporaries.  Further experiment with the program as part of an integrated approach to transition during the first three years after ordination is recommended.
