To discover the individual perceptions of the congregation regarding the theology and practice of the Lord's Supper, a comprehensive survey was prepared and administered.  Results indicated that factors contributing to low attendance include: a lack of understanding of its theological significance; feelings of unworthiness; unresolved differences with fellow believers; and footwashing.  Four sermons informed by the studies in Scripture, the writings of Ellen G White, and non-Adventist literature, were then preached.  Results of a second survey indicated that changes in attitude are a slow process. A questionnaire was sent to some evangelists in North America inquiring about the effectiveness of various evangelistic methods.  Five evangelistic crusades were conducted.  Two were conducted according to the newly developed strategy and three were conducted without the strategy.  Each crusade conducted with the strategy was analyzed and compared with those that were conducted without the strategy. A self-evaluation strategy was used to focus on the purpose of the church.  The congregation assessed the strengths and weaknesses of the church, and the church board studied its purpose. Departmental leaders prepared action plans based on a revised mission statement and thirteen new goals, and made periodic progress reports. The church was not growing because it had become institutionalized.
