Acts","Mission of the church","Church work","Church development, New","Paul, Saint, Apostle","Theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of the proposed study was to determine how Paul's leadership styles, attitudes and methodology found in his farewell message of Acts 20:17-38 could be utilized to train a group of fifteen Fountain of Life pastors in the discipline of church planting. The training of the 14 pastors took place in Nairobi, Kenya, in September 2002. The group had one year to put the principles learnt into practice. The class met twice after the one-year period to reevaluate the ten principles they had previously learnt. The project proved that it was possible to plant churches using the ten leadership principles gathered from Paul's speech at Miletus. 5 new churches were planted and the other 9 that had existed before this project began grew by 33% to 185%. Major factors that intervene to produce this disparity are denominational structures, educational requirements, racial and cultural influences. In Caucasian churches, ministers seem to be in paid staff positions while in African-American churches, many ministers (excluding pastors) are in positions with little or no compensation and appear to do many voluntary functions. Women in both types of churches are underutilized and seem to be in supportive roles. The fruit of the project was ultimately to help people encounter the living God in Christ as trained intercessors came alongside them in prayer. This evaluative study in the descriptive mode used a researcher-designed instrument for training fifteen participants. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, weekly feedback forms, and a congregational survey. This overburdens the pastor, withholds the privilege of serving from lay people, and inhibits the spiritual growth of the body. The purpose of this project is to equip lay people for ministry at Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church. The research will measure the effectiveness of the 'Equipping Church Model' from The Equipping Church Guidebook, by Sue Mallory and Brad Smith.  The effectiveness of the 'Equipping Church Model' was evaluated by using a researcher-designed survey that measured the congregation's understanding and experience of nine outcomes of the model. The research is an evaluation study in the experimental mode utilizing a pre-. mid-, and post-test design with no comparison group.  Significant change was observed in all nine outcomes from pre- to mid- and post-tests. During the seventeen years of pastoral ministry in India, my experiences reveal that lay people have potential to do effective ministry both inside and outside churches.  They are looking for ways, opportunities and guidance from pastoral leadership.  The purpose of this research was to evaluate a ten-week self-designed and self-directed study program, designed to equip laity for effective ministry in evangelism.  Thirty lay men and women were chosen from a local Methodist church in South India to study the lessons.  Their affective, cognitive and behavioral changes were assessed by using pretest, mid-test and posttest questionnaires. This study sought to design, implement, and evaluate a workshop to train ministers in the use of technology in ministry.  Pre- and post-assessment instruments measured changes in attitude, knowledge, and skill occurring in workshop participants.  The post-assessment instrument also measured the participants' satisfaction ratings of course design, content, and methodology. Thirty-one ministers, varying in age and ministerial experience, participated in the nine-hour workshop covering five areas of technology in ministry:  publication, communication, presentation, research, and administration.  Workshop design included presentation, demonstration, and simulation through lab experience. Significant positive changes occurred in ten of fourteen attitude items measured, twenty-two of twenty-three knowledge items, and all twenty-three skill items.
