A survey to measure the response of participants to that presentation was administered and the results of that survey tabulated. The project surveyed short-term mission trip participants to discover the spiritually forming elements of the trip. This data was used to form a strategy that was then presented to a panel of eight experts for their evaluation. As a result, the evaluation by the panel of experts validated the strategy according to issues that revitalize a local church. A quesionnaire was used to ascertain the degree to which pastors and lay leaders depend on the Spirit. While today's leadership lacks a full understanding of the Holy Spirit, there appears to be a growing openness to explore the depths of this seemingly neglected, but equally authoritative part of the Trinity. The project surveys both the academic disciplines of Black liberation theology and educational theory as well as their implications for Christian educational ministries within the Black church. It also gathers by questionnaire data from 20 youth who participated in two seminars concerning Black history and self-esteem. The project included a quantitative and qualitative pre-test, post-test design that assessed knowledge, and awareness of the formational counseling model. The pre-test assessment showed students had little knowledge of formal counseling. Upon completing the semester long class, administering the post- test assessment revealed the success of this project.
