The author examines the major cultural and philosophical themes of postmodernism through the lens of popular music. Two common evangelical responses to postmodernism are appraised. A defense of evangelism is offered, based on Christian realism and the ontologically unique claims of Christ. Lesslie Newbigin's model of contextually-appropriate mission, as the encounter between Gospel, culture and church, is commended as an alternative to non-foundational pluralism. Based upon a detailed review of relevant literature and the preparation, teaching, and evaluation of a course in workplace evangelism at the author's church, the project includes essays on defining evangelism, understanding the workplace, and telling the Christian story, plus a six-lesson curriculum suitable for use in discussion groups. The evolution demonstrates a marked shift in meaning from the experience of the Apostles to the use of the terms in today's context. The shifts are positive because they once again call the laity and the church community to mission and evangelization. This project focuses especially on the role of the RCIA sponsor. Sponsors serve as examples of lay persons recognizing the call to mission and evangelization. They are a group in need of formation in mission and evangelization. The educational design for RCIA sponsors focuses on the role of the lay person and the community in mission and evangelization, and also provides an opportunity for the sponsors to experience the tie between their actions on behalf of the candidates as well as the action of the community. By providing an opportunity to experience an RCIA rite, the sponsors see the importance of worship and liturgy in the evangelization process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f245891-e4c1-47d9-842b-9aefbafae138"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135283506315264,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:48:37.089Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:32:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:45:13Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1c9c01e6-2f1d-417b-9a14-02d29a9718e6","accessControl_ssim":["d41e1237-739e-462a-88e4-08d6544850ad"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Who is my neighbor?
