Through a video of a concert of original folk, country, bluegrass, blues, and gospel music accompanied by theological reflection, this project presents a view of the world that seeks to give its readers, hearers, and viewers 'EvangelEyes' to see themselves being, doing and telling good news. This integrative project has grown out of a conviction that a major impediment to active participation in evangelization is a failure to understand the Christian's role in participation with God in the task of evangelization. This lack of understanding, coupled with human sinfulness, has led to a lack of ownership and a lack of participation in that task. However we may feel, whatever we may think or believe, many of us act as if evangelization were something 'someone else' should do. There are many resources that consider 'how to' evangelize. The author develops a theology of hopeful worship, based on the understanding that in worship we participate in a Messianic banquet already begun in the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Beginning with a review of current literature about eschatological dimensions of worship, the author describes major authors in the field, their issues, and their insights. The project constructs a theology of hopeful worship based on eschatological dimensions of regular weekly worship services, sacraments of baptism and the Eucharist, and a liturgical calendar. The author concludes that concentration on eschatological dimensions of worship makes those who worship aware not only of the 'end times' but also of the nearness of Christ. Realizing the presence of Christ in worship can potentially transform those who worship into those who base their hope on Christ's life, death, and future."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f245891-e4c1-47d9-842b-9aefbafae138"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135092802846720,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:45:35.220Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:45:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:48:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"950898c8-54cd-49bc-84d8-23b5f8f3fbc4","accessControl_ssim":["2e60ae2d-2a67-4604-a2de-23fb1757a54d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Sacred speech and children: the relationship of 'children's sermon' and liturgy"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:45:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:29:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2e20dc40-e0e1-457f-86c5-980df320fbe2"],"hasLease_ssim":["6bcd53fc-ce41-4ff5-9fba-cf18ab06b021"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Scott Black Johnston"],"year_tesim":["1996"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert T Carlson"],"publisher_tesim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Children's sermons","Church work with children","Liturgical language"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project explores the nature of sacred speech in worship, concentrating on the Children's Sermon.
