The author wrote and taught an evangelism manual to deepen the participants' confidence in their faith and their ability to share this faith with others. The project director preached a sermon series from the book of Ecclesiastes during which he taught the major themes of the wisdom genre and the skills required to interpret the wisdom genre properly. An advisory group of experts evaluated the sermons. A control group provided feedback through written surveys. An extended period of church conflict marked by multiple church splits resulted in a negative inward focus and the subsequent loss of morale and mission. The director facilitated this process by leading the church through a visioning process which culminated in the writing of a church mission statement.
