Two groups of elderly persons participated in the study: one living independently in the community and the other receiving volunteer services of a coalition organization of faith communities.  Needs identified were depression, fear, anxiety, loneliness, anger, guilt and lack of belief after death. The methodology is a practical theological one, beginning with a thick description of contemporary university campuses, leading to a reflection on normative texts, then to a theological model of prophecy, and finally to a pastoral strategy.
