A qualitative research methodology was used to interview twelve women who have been clients in pastoral counseling.  The findings demonstrate that pastoral counseling does facilitate growth in women's faith lives when the process is sensitive to women's unique experience of themselves, of their relationships, and of their God. The author realized that his ministry could be significantly hampered because it lacked pertinent developmental understanding of his parishioners.  The project's process involved three primary components: individual interviews with subsequent Fowlerian interpretations, a group evaluative meeting, and a concluding questionnaire. The project took place within a congregation in the United Church of Canada and involved 36 session members who were responsible with the minister for the congregation's spiritual oversight. It suggests a structured network of covenant family group ministry in a church to build up and enrich Christian families for faith development.
