On the basis of questionnaires and interviews, the project identifies language differences as the primary sources of conflict within families, yet greater conflicts stem from the clash of different models of social interaction--authoritarian and Korean, egalitarian and American. These styles of parenting generate the same conflicts in the church as in the home. Forty-six members of North Boston Korean United Methodist Church in Andover, Massachusetts, participated in this project from March 1993 to December 1994.
