This project depicts the kinds of stress this type of caregiver has to endure.  How is a nurse affected by the stress, and how does it affect her religious practices and beliefs?  The project finds that: 1) the work forces a nurse to evaluate her religious practices of the past, to determine their relevance for the present and to act accordingly.  A weak bond snaps.  A strong one strengthens. The motif of servanthood is explored by an exegetical study of the servant's identity and mission.  The implications of servanthood are suggested for the ministry of the church in general and to pastoral care as one particular aspect of servanthood. It uses family systems and object relations theory to support the research.  The project does not provide a comprehensive premarital counseling program but does present a model developed within an Episcopalian context.  The practical research is done by questionnaire-based interviews with twelve couples who experience the genogram as the primary framework for their four to six session premarital programs. In the second Quadrennium it received greater support from the Church.  Within the Southern New England Conference a strategy was put into place in 1983.  This project focuses on that strategy and raises questions about its relevance. To determine the impact of the strategy, visits are made to ethnic centers, a structured interview is held with Bishop George Bashore and questionnaires are sent to district superintendents, pastors and lay persons. It is based on perceptions that indicate a lack of understanding each holds of the other.  Military chaplains are often perceived as not being fully in the ministry, while executive ministers have often not kept in contact with chaplains.  The chaplains experience a sense of frustration when church structures are not responsive to their desire to maintain active involvement. The experience of inner freedom to become, and the openness to the future, sprung forth out of an exile crisis situation and its healthy resolution.  This is the psycho-spiritual basis for pastoral care ministry. Achieving relationships, boiling down the problem, and coping actively are the phases of a crisis counseling paradigm. The Doctor of Ministry evaluation and planning-action evaluation project examines the club's strengths and weaknesses within the framework of the entire synagogue.  The reasons why the club does not qualify as a model for other congregations to emulate are articulated.
