In developing the project, much information came from interviews, personal experience and readings and observations in black parishes. Data was gained from on-site visits to over twenty ministries in recreational areas from Maine to California.  These ministries were then presented according to their primary goals: worship, evangelism, counseling, and social action. A discussion of evangelistic strategies in recreational areas recommends the use of friendship, proclamation, and contact evangelism. Findings from on-site visits and research into evangelistic strategies are joined together in plans for establishing an evangelistic ministry among recreational areas in Maine. Bethany Church, located in growing southern New Hampshire, developed a strategy stressing disciple-making rather than decision-making. Using community assessment and a congregational survey, Bethany created a paradigm to reclaim the evangelistic enterprise by: expanding the vision; equipping the people; targeting the audience; and incorporating the newcomer. The study was limited to those who had spent a minimum of five years in the parish after becoming ordained.  An attempt was made to look at roles, family dynamics, and relationships with the system of the denomination.  All subjects were mailed questionnaires, and a portion of the subjects were interviewed. The plan for action includes a Bible study, an alcohol awareness sermon, a workshop, and a continuum of concern.  The model was tested in four local churches. Interviews, surveys, questionnaires and evaluation forms were used to measure the effectiveness of the model. Fourteen church members followed a daily devotional plan for six weeks.  Tested before, during, and after the six weeks of daily devotions, the participants reported frequency of perceived hindrance to worship and prayer life in devotion to God.
