The project conducts 49 interviews among residents, families, and staff to elicit perspectives on spiritual well-being, placing these within a conceptual framework developed from research in current literature. The project finds that residents see staff as a definite resource for spiritual well-being, not limiting this role to clergy. Women clergy are more likely to address the issue because of specialized training in graduate courses, conferences, workshops, or seminars on domestic violence. Participants in 12-step programs register a score significantly higher statistically on representations of God as Loving than do those in Rational Recovery. Participants in Rational Recovery and other nonspiritual groups tend to score significantly higher on representations of God as Wrathful. Three study classes enlist 14 participants--seven from AA and seven 'average church attendees'--in a seven-week survey of the Beatitudes. The project conducts a quantitative and qualitative evaluation with 30 volunteers.  Pre-test and post-test comparisons analyzed significant differences in attitude, knowledge, and behavior in program participants and a control group.
