The project consolidated educational classes and choir rehearsals for all ages into one night with a catered meal.  Analyzing a random sample survey, attendance records and evaluations, the author measured 0% to 44% increases in worship, choir, Sunday School and finances after ten months. The project was implemented in two Roman Catholic parishes in San Antonio, Texas. This was a planning/action/evaluation project that included development of a nine-hour formation process and a test instrument to evaluate results.  Change was confirmed in both parishes, with the most significant amount in the area of general ministry. The project attempted to enhance the spiritual well-being and psychosocial integration of the elderly through two sets of biweekly meetings: one of life histories, personal experience, and issues of faith; and one of a supervisory nature as a peer support, sharing, and learning group. Forty-six members of North Boston Korean United Methodist Church in Andover, Massachusetts, participated in this project from March 1993 to December 1994. A qualitative research methodology was used to interview twelve women who have been clients in pastoral counseling.  The findings demonstrate that pastoral counseling does facilitate growth in women's faith lives when the process is sensitive to women's unique experience of themselves, of their relationships, and of their God. The study also examined the meanings of hope and hopelessness in the Latvian cultural and sociopolitical contexts. Findings of the study indicate a higher hopelessness level for men than for women in the sample. Needs identified were depression, fear, anxiety, loneliness, anger, guilt and lack of belief after death. Their styles of griefwork indicate that they prefer to act rather than to talk or express feelings.
