This evaluation should come from knowledge of South African culture, the view of marriage presented by Scripture, and the experiences of women within polygamous marriages. The author's interviews with women reveal a great deal of pain and anger over being in such marriages. She also presents Scriptural arguments for monogamous as opposed to polygamous marriage forms, outlines various pastoral responsibilities and proposes courses of action for counseling women, men, and children in polygamous marriages."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Boston University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["2d58bd09-76d0-4970-b257-d55229e0173e"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715228452126720,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:43:10.220Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:09:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:14:17Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"759e0149-1567-4222-84aa-7fbb850450cd","accessControl_ssim":["f842304c-1b2c-4d6f-8f9c-a09f339882fd"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The theology and psychology of hope in clergy"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:09:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:35:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["297833b9-b044-4b82-8956-308e3193d513"],"hasLease_ssim":["6f58cba4-cfd4-4031-9143-842a8ad3dfe4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Merle R Jordan"],"year_tesim":["1991"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert Jancek"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Mental health","Hope"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project is set forth as both a study and resource of hope in clergy. An 'interpretative context' is present whenever persons attempt to communicate. Therefore, preaching is affected by the interpretative contexts of both preacher and hearer. A 'gap' may exist that can impede communication between persons whose interpretative contexts are sufficiently different. This project examined the contextual nature of preaching. Study of biblical texts, prior to their development in sermons, afforded pastors and congregations opportunity to become aware of contextual gaps. A sermon review process allowed for evaluation of the gap-bridging process. As interpretative contexts were examined, the potential for effective preaching was increased."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Boston University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["2d58bd09-76d0-4970-b257-d55229e0173e"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718286634516480,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:31:46.730Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:09:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:34:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b858bf7c-45e6-49d3-af78-fef026ffd3e2","accessControl_ssim":["d00cd930-9e98-46b3-874b-05349396ed55"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The leader's ship: the development of a model and curriculum leading to proactive lay leadership in the local church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:09:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:26:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ae63f509-af02-485f-8566-0ab86ba06561"],"hasLease_ssim":["e5963ecb-2204-4ff4-8813-0adb26797424"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Robert W Thornburg"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Brinton P Minshall"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Lay Church work","Church growth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This leadership development project was aimed at equipping the lay people of the church to move the local church from a static state to one of the growing community.
