The project uses three case studies of patients in therapy to demonstrate the constructive power of core narrative in creating future stories. Deconstructing dysfunctional aspects of these narratives creates emotional and psychological space for reconstruction of more healthy narratives and patterns of life, thus creating experiences of hope and possibility for the future. The project employed the Death Anxiety Scale (Nehrke modification) in a pretest and posttest format to measure changes in the level of fear and anxiety in these patients. Evaluation found that 75 percent of the patients experienced relief of fear and anxiety, while fear and anxiety increased in 19 percent.
