Distinctions between rural and urban locales and ages and occupations of respondents most noticeably affected these perceptions, while congregational size and sex of respondents made little difference. Significant difference of viewpoint emerge, reinforcing the importance of character and relationally based ministry for pastors. The project analyzes seven areas of belief and practice in relation to demographic categories.  Relevant characteristics include practice of spiritual disciplines, regular responsibility in the church, contentment with church, a sense of psychological well-being, age, membership status, income level, and length of time attending the church. A quantitative, descriptive method of research using a mailed questionnaire was employed.  Many differences were found.
