The workshop discovers similarities in human nature, life experiences, feelings, and needs between Western and Eastern traditions. Different traditional theological methods have one goal: to understand living human documents and meet human pastoral needs. This project used a series of workshops to educate clergy about spouse abuse.  In the workshops the clergy learned about the characteristics and personalities of both victim and perpetrator.  The workshop examined their knowledge of spouse abuse.  Most clergy are not equipped to minister to victims or perpetrators. By clarifying and following what is promising in the marital commitment and in the new community, marital partners may develop personal contacts, integrate the move into their personal and marital goals and decrease marital stress.  The author implements Juergen Moltmann's theology of hope into a ten week program of workshops and field trips for seven couples who have moved recently.
