The project was designed as a microcosm of the United Methodist connectional and itinerant ministry. It included a district superintendent as a representative of the appointed hierarchy.  These clergy-persons represented a broad spectrum of types of appointments, race, gender and age.  Their formal theological training and theological orientation represented five different seminaries.  Approximately forty hours were spent exploring, testing and attempting to experience a Christian covenant community. It used the understanding of older adults in a support group.  With the Council on Ministries, they identified a specific need and designed a tool of ministry -- a congregational interest inventory survey -- which was presented at a worship service led by older adults.
