Veldheer"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Organizational change","Theological seminaries","Ministry","Cross-cultural studies","Theology, Contextual"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Focusing on the Bechtold Library at CTU, I will explore the extent to which aspects of decoloniality affect the practices of a theological library and its diverse student body. Keeping, producing, and providing knowledge comes with cultural assumptions about what should be kept in a library, the types of knowledge they should help produce and services they should provide. As a member of Western society, the CTU library carries a legacy of colonial thought which has shaped the existing library collection and influences the knowledge produced by library users. It specifically addresses adult learning paradigms known as “andragogy” as opposed to the more familiar pediatric learning paradigms known as “pedagogy.” The principles of andragogy are then applied to permanent diaconate formation models in an effort to develop the most effective means. He bases this assertion on results of interviews conducted in three midwestern seminaries.  He demonstrates that an intercultural approach to seminary formation is consistent with church documents on seminary training, as well as with contemporary theology.  The author explains at length the essential cultural categories necessary for gaining an understanding of cultural difference, which is the key to intercultural communication.
