Using a practical theology framework informed by Don Browning’s correlation method and Richard Osmer’s fourfold process, the study analyzes leadership programs through surveys, interviews, and institutional document analysis. The research explores the gap between institutional intention and student reception of CST. Findings suggest that CST often shapes leadership formation implicitly through service, community engagement, and institutional charisms, yet it is rarely presented explicitly as a coherent formative framework. It argues that, when thoughtfully integrated, sport can foster holistic growth in seminarians and priests through physical health, emotional maturity, fraternity, leadership, discipline, and evangelization. Using Richard R. Osmer’s practical theology framework and qualitative interviews with seven Catholic priests, the study engages Scripture, Church teaching, patristic sources, and contemporary scholarship. Findings highlight both benefits and risks, including exclusion and competitiveness. Through the exploration of this community, as well as those responsible for mission formation, one can glean the gifts of Jesuit education that are accessible for a broader audience, as well as craft a way of proceeding in the work of mission formation and animation that can benefit all employees. This project demonstrates that authentic encounter with the wisdom of the Jesuit educational mission, acknowledgement and celebration of the unique gifts these employees bring to mission work, and demonstration of both the relevance and benefit of mission to any work within a Jesuit institution, invite this population to a richer connection to mission.
