Two paradigms were introduced to a Friends church.  Evaluation of whether the new paradigms created shifts in the congregations system in measured against the effectiveness of leadership. Personal interviews, congregation-wide surveys and personal journaling document that one introduced paradigm created a shift.  One did not. In order to continue this proclamation church leadership needs to be intentional about making disciples.  This paper stresses returning to this practive which is a role of the church.  Various methods and models of disciple making and leadership development are critiqued from an African American Baptist congregation context.  In exploring these models on how this may be done, disciple making and church leadership training are viewed as inseparable.
