The first chapter introduces and delineates the nature and scope of the project. The second chapter provides an overview of the history of Nigeria, describes the current state of violent conflict, and the causes of the conflict. The third chapter highlights the positive and the negative role of religion in Nigeria, defines peace and describes the understanding of peace according to each religion. The fourth chapter identifies teachings that will need to be deconstructed in the major religions that can serve the community to create a dialogue of shalom/salam. The fifth chapter offers the proper way to foster peace through shalom and provides the meaning of reconciliation along with adequate steps toward reconciliation. The sixth chapter focuses on designing an effective curriculum for congregations in order to facilitate peace education. The seventh chapter offers various healthy practices for peace in the Nigerian interfaith community. The practical identity formation program addresses encountering God, enlarging relationships with others, experiencing the present reign of God, engaging the pain of the earth, and envisioning the future. Insights are provided for local churches, mono- or multicultural, who seek to explore theological and sociological questions about the diversity of the human community.  The work of a variety of educators, both in general and Christian education, is discussed, focusing especially on the theories of James A Banks.  The work includes an exploration of the ways in which theology is informed by and contributes to multicultural education issues.  A local church multicultural education project is described and analyzed. The project demonstrates a 3-step process for training teachers to deal with three Bible passages: 1)interpret the text by analyzing literary characteristics and its literary and historical contexts; 2) explore the goal of Christian education and the learners' life experience, establishing a process for applying the biblical message accordingly; 3) teaching the Bible lesson by examining theories of learning, principles and methods of teaching, and designing a teaching/learning process compatible with literary genres and goals of Christian education. This project designed sample lesson plans relevant to the experience of Chinese Americans for three genres: Narrative, Wisdom, and Prophetic.
