Luke"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The Christian church of the twentieth century is fragmented and distant from its first century origins. Major divisions in the church have altered liturgical practices, especially the ritual observance of the sacraments of baptism and Eucharist.  Early Christian worship reflected in the gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts reveals the religious experiences of the church in the last third of the first century.  To the extent that they can be recovered, this project reveals how the sacramental practices of baptism and Eucharist were formative in the Luke/Acts community, how they evolved through twenty centuries of Christianity, and how they present a paradigm for modern Christian worship. Implications for the church as a patriarchal institution are explored, with particular attention to the Anglican tradition. The preachers of the conservative side have laid their emphasis upon biblicalism, fundamentalism, evangelicalism, and personal salvation, whereas those of the liberal ecumenical group have stressed liberation, ecumenism, syncretism, and social redemption.  This project attempts to discover the possibility of combining evangelical preaching with liberal preaching in the Korean church.  Expository preaching is presented as an effective model which creatively synthesizes evangelical preaching and liberating preaching. Expository preaching attempts to bind together the Word of God and the Incarnate Word.  It insists that a preacher ought to be only not the proclaimer but also the doer of what he/she proclaimed. Feminist clergy must be empowered to remain in leadership within the church if the church is to become less oppressive of all people, particularly of women.  Empowerment occurs in the context of relationships; the relational context of mutuality is the foundation of personal empowerment.  The relational context can be fostered as feminist clergy allow their self to be more fully present in their role as clergy: to act out of the self-in-role. The Judeo-Christian heritage provides an ethical mandate for this kind of diakonia or service.  This project is a result of research on the needs of the elderly, especially those who have become frail and require assistance and how pastoral care can best satsisfy those needs. Insights are provided for local churches, mono- or multicultural, who seek to explore theological and sociological questions about the diversity of the human community.  The work of a variety of educators, both in general and Christian education, is discussed, focusing especially on the theories of James A Banks.  The work includes an exploration of the ways in which theology is informed by and contributes to multicultural education issues.  A local church multicultural education project is described and analyzed.
