Participants were guided through a process of learning to develop skills for listening to God, self and others. Listening to God is based on prayer in the style taught by Father Thomas Keating. Guided spiritual autobiography is used to help members better listen to one's own life experiences and one another's. Participants are taught basic empathic listening skills and encouraged to show God's love to others, developing Godbearing within group members. The Godbearing concept is based upon Elaine Robinson's book of the same name. The process develops Godbearing as a model for listening-based evangelism. It focuses on the diversity of others and forming genuine relationships. It is not one of conversion, but listening to what God is already doing in the faith life of the person. The same principle is also used when listening to the world, seeking to transform the world to a just and loving place."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132156505882624,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:58:54.949Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:29:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:54:54Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"633757b1-b166-474f-9846-16fc15487630","accessControl_ssim":["916c7e0e-bf70-4a00-a79c-3667e7ce26a6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The perceived influence of Seventh-day Adventist religious tradition on clergy's ability to achieve balanced psychosocial development"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:29:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:02:12Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["209facf8-e730-4586-9712-e4209879e966"],"hasLease_ssim":["209c9072-28cd-48da-9f80-c8e64340ce06"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["William M Clements"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Vaughn K Grant"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Developmental psychology","Clergy--Psychology","Erikson, Erik H. It is based on a practical application of the intersection between ethics and religious education. Research included information on the purpose, resources and programs of interfaith web sites and local interfaith groups. A review of interfaith literature on peacemaking, ethics, community and religious education was supplemented with interviews with specialists in these areas including scholars, spiritual leaders and religious educators. A model for an interfaith program is presented, as well as resources for faith communities who seek to implement the model. The model is a one-year program for two faith communities and includes religious education, fellowship/worship, and social justice action components."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131772873867264,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:49.089Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:23:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:01:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ff7e05bc-6560-46a9-9f69-275265dfa573","accessControl_ssim":["806be708-8747-4d8c-93ca-c307b5028b92"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Designing contemplative prayer in the Korean Protestant church context"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:23:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:26:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2ccf60e5-ff9e-4d56-bd43-4f681e755143"],"hasLease_ssim":["258f24c6-c7e6-4aa9-bf07-e9e4726184f3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Andrew Dreitcer"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"location_tesim":["Korea"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Tong Soo Han"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Protestant Church","Contemplative life","Prayer"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project carefully examines the possibility of applying contemplative prayer to the Korean Protestant church context. The approach used to bring about justice has been in the form of protests, political activism and writing political representatives. However, Unitarian Universalism has not intentionally focused on the pastoral care needs of people in their congregations who are most wounded by injustice. This project describes an intentional approach to cross-cultural pastoral care that employs a new integrated multifactorial assessment model to support racial and ethnic diversity in Unitarian Universalist congregations, by calling attention to the significance of culture on the identity formation of individuals who are labeled by the dominant culture as minorities. Additionally, the project encourages Unitarian Universalist ministers and religious educators when providing pastoral care to consider the history, family, culture and religious/theological issues that inform, nurture and sustain Unitarian Universalists who identify themselves as persons of color or members of an ethnic minority group in the United States."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131757884473344,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:34.794Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:08Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:52:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"24ec7085-7ea7-4647-80a6-9505c4371101","accessControl_ssim":["600d746d-bd2b-4ca8-8280-451877e17be3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The teaching ministry of the church: a guide for pastors in preparing candidate for baptism and confirmation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:13:10Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7257bcea-16b9-4131-a293-0ed645950a12"],"hasLease_ssim":["19cbb24f-5677-48c5-9d02-b67e5b2e22f9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Frank Rogers"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"location_tesim":["Zimbabwe"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gift Kudakwashe Machinga"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy","Clergy--Office","Church history","Baptism--Methodist Church","Confirmation--Methodist Church","United Methodist Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project addresses problems of the United Methodist Church in Zimbabwe that have been created by a shortage of Christian education resources, both human and material. The Zimbabwean United Methodist Church is continuing to experience considerable numerical and spiritual growth. However, pastors do not have educational resources which are adequate to train new members and mature old ones. The preparation of candidates for baptism and confirmation is identified as a critical need and the project focuses on developing materials to be used by pastors in this preparation. The intent is to equip pastors with teaching strategies and tools (rather than lesson plans), and material is compiled from historical and biblical perspectives. Resources utilized include conversations with district superintendents and pastors, surveys of church members, and archival material accessed in Zimbabwe. The goal is to encourage pastors and draw them to embrace teaching in their ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131761579655168,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:38.318Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:56:37Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8aa1b109-b2da-4d33-b601-9c6393edc498","accessControl_ssim":["bbb5d781-6004-4445-a995-b4ed5be3c2a7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A model for humane ministry with migrant workers in Korea"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:22:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:12:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cbc740a1-95b5-4a10-85e1-54878766cbaa"],"hasLease_ssim":["5d0f5507-a35f-4f6f-8a2d-b324f51d8359"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Michael L Mata"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"location_tesim":["Korea"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Hyun-Sung Choi"],"publisher_tesim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Church history","Church work with migrant labor"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project focuses on advocating for the human rights of migrant workers in Korea to bring about social justice in Korean society for migrant workers as well as helping the church to do humane ministry working in cooperation with migrant workers.
