To learn about this, a qualitative narrative approach was used and data was gathered through interviews with eight Ukrainian evangelists. The questions investigated the theological, historical-cultural, and relational contexts in Ukrainian society to understand what is affecting evangelism in Ukraine. The author concluded that there is a good theological foundation in Ukraine, but it is insufficient to result in an evangelical experience. The research used a mixed methods design. The findings supported the following conclusions. The R2E program was successful in attaining its development goal. Yet, theological educators did not perceive mentored education programs like R2E as a possible alternative to formal theological training for evangelists or church planters. Considering that many churches are declining or have plateaued, this study sought to discover practical, effective strategies and techniques that have contributed to overall church growth by baptism and conversion. The author asked what these practices were, how they were taught, and how they were modeled by the leadership. The author's research preceding the case study gives a review and foundation from the early church's teaching and experience in evangelism, discipleship, missions, pastoral leadership, and church growth to the present. A closer look was given at the causes and effects of little to no obedience and commitment to the Great Commission. These factors include: spiritual preparation, leadership buy-in, the on-going communication of vision and philosophy, a healthy launch, congregational buy-in and successfully passing on the philosophical DNA of making disciples. The on-going communication of vision and philosophy was determined to be the most critical factor in this change process. This study also relates these factors to John Kotter's eight-stage process of change from his book Leading change (1996). Russian church planters know a great deal about the nature of the new churches, and can offer insights about the kind of training needed to prepare pastors for them. Surveys of the congregations reveal that personal friendship is the best way to communicate and that printed materials--tracts and books--are the most useful evangelistic media. These Bangkok churches overcome hindrances in communicating difficult concepts by illustrating them with personal testimonies. These churches teach members to evangelize by training them one-on-one in telephone and house visitations. A handbook on apologetics was developed, after which it was then taught to two test groups totaling twenty-four participants.  Using a Likert-type scale, a pretest and posttest were administered to the participants to measure changes in attitude toward witnessing as a consequence of studying the handbook.  The results of the tests indicated that participants' attitude concerning their witnessing improved.
