The research begins with the question; To what do African-American churches that effectively engage men in the life of the church attribute their success?  The research included twelve churches from five different counties. Members and leaders from twenty-one missionary church planting teams filled out an email questionnaire consisting of ten questions, five related to accomplishing the church planting task and five related to caring for the team. The responses were analyzed and categorized.
