This project focuses the intersection of John Calvin's theology of repentance and a communications method developed by Episcopal priest Eric Law with a particular Session and other members of the congregation. Law's method was explored with the Session. A qualitative research design was developed and a series of surveys and interviews with elders and church consultant were conducted. Very often the response and attempts to resolve congregational conflict exacerbates the situation. This project thus focuses on a particular congregation, the issues that it faced during a recent episode of conflict, and attempts to achieve transformation, healing, and reconciliation. The congregation is analyzed using a family systems approach. The development and the application of a strategy to achieve the three-fold goal are explored. This strategy is guided by a school of conflict management called Conflict Transformation. This project explores the validity of the claims of this method when applied in the Jamaican context. Some stories reveal a problem of nonforgiveness among the people. Theological research reveals that though our memories will not release our hurts, there must be some sharing of God's grace and forgiveness between the members of the church. When a minister discovers a problem like nonforgiveness, there must be some constructive way to address the problem without inflaming past wounds.
