By law, schools offer a limited scope of sexuality in curriculum confined to relatively universal values and medical information. As a community of faith, the church has an essential voice and obligation to provide sexuality education beyond what the secular world provides tweens, youth in grades 4-7, and their parents during this crucial developmental stage. Through conversation with four focus groups who participated in a faith-based sexuality education program and an interview with the author of a public school comprehensive sexuality education curriculum, this project explores theological reasons that impel us to educate the whole self as we follow our baptismal call."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128903416283136,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:07:12.561Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:20:28Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:43:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"028c336d-92d9-4a72-9208-8dd1ed98b033","accessControl_ssim":["f99432fa-de4e-4803-ae3d-3ece98aae412"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The spiritual retreat as a tool for equipping disciples for mission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:20:27Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:11:28Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["475de1fa-d65b-4d14-a6af-50df07a9dba3"],"hasLease_ssim":["a1596678-dd67-4f4a-ba15-b3fc830922ff"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stanley P Saunders"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Bradley Knox Walker"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Spiritual retreats","Christianity","Experience (Religion)","Church and the world"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes that spiritual retreats serve an important function in the process of equipping Christian disciples for mission in a changing world.
