A triumphalist theology emerged out of this belief that denies the hard paradoxes of faith and life.  This dissertation examines the Church of God development of this triumphalistic faith practice and attempts to develop an expanded theological perspective and practice of ministry.  This is conceptualized by examining several components of Paul Tillich's theology. Historical research documents the role of storytelling in Protestantism and the decline of narrative in Pentecostalism since 1875. A model and method are developed based on unity, both spiritual and practical.  The model examines theology, experience, and culture.  Their integration suggests how the church changes without losing its identity.  The methodology makes the model practical in any given time or culture.
